Metal and mechanical trades sponsorship visas

Fabrication and mechanical trades are in demand in workshops, on sites and in maintenance teams across the country. The usual sponsor problems are experience that isn’t documented, occupations that overlap, and roles that have grown beyond their original title.

Where it goes wrong

The sponsor problems we see most in carpentry, metal and mechanical.

Which occupation?

Fabricator, welder, fitter-welder, boilermaker: real workshops blur these. The nomination has to pick the occupation the duties fit best, and the worker’s evidence has to match it.

Trade tests and tickets

Welding certifications and trade tests are strong evidence, but they are not a skills assessment. Where the occupation requires an assessment, it has to be done through the assessing authority.

Experience-based workers

Many excellent fabricators learnt on the job. Recognition of prior learning can turn that history into a qualification the assessment and the visa can rely on.

For employers: If your workshop can’t find fabricators or fitters locally, we tell you what the sponsorship costs, who pays what, and how long each stage takes.

For workers: If a workshop has offered to sponsor you, bring evidence of what you make and fix: photos, job cards, references, tickets.

Solve Migration helped me with my 482 visa. My case was pretty complicated and honestly seemed impossible to get approved, but my case manager Shabna did such an amazing job! She was super helpful and supportive all throughout, and now my visa has been granted!
